Marty J. Smith Bio:
Marty J. Smith currently serves as a Supervisory Protective Security Advisor (PSA) for Florida’s Region Five which includes nine counties in central and eastern Florida. He supervises PSA’s in Georgia and Mississippi.
Mr. Smith supports homeland security efforts and contributes to the development of the national risk picture by identifying, assessing and monitoring risks to critical infrastructure assets.
As a PSA, Mr. Smith facilitates, coordinates, and performs vulnerability assessments for critical infrastructure and provides physical & cyber security resources to Federal, State, local law enforcement agencies and the private sector. In addition, he conducts incident response and supports special events during planning and game-day execution.
Prior to joining DHS, Mr. Smith spent seven years in a Fortune 500 electric sector company based in Florida where he supported a state-of-the-art security, compliance, and investigations team to protect a wide range of critical infrastructure.
In 2004, Mr. Smith retired after serving 22 years with the U.S. Army / Criminal Investigative Command (CID). Mr. Smith completed four years as a Special Agent in Charge (SAC) in South Korea and Arizona mentoring Special Agents to carry out investigations, surveillance of criminals, using undercover techniques, identifying and apprehending criminal suspects.
Mr. Smith is a graduate of the Army’s Advanced Officer Development course. He obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree from Columbia Southern University with a major in Criminal Justice Administration.
