LELC Quarterly Presentation

Our presenter is Dr. Mark Beaudry, and his presentation will center on cybersecurity and what front line officers need to know.

 Introduction to Cybersecurity 

The unauthorized access or loss of data due to a cyberattack has serious operational and privacy implications. This session will focus on the importance of cybersecurity needs to be considered that may compromise a public or private agency’s ability to protect people and data. This could potentially affect the confidence in an organizations trust and credibility.

1.  Summarize cybersecurity basic concepts.       

2. Illustrate a familiarization of attacks and vulnerabilities.

3. Summarize different threat actors and attack vectors.

Dr. Mark H. Beaudry< CPP is a retired intelligence chief and anti-terrorism instructor from the U. S. Marine Corps. Dr. Beaudry received an A.S., B.S.,M.S., and a PhD in HS/Criminal Justice. He has been a member of ASIS International since 1982 and a CPP since 1996. He is a past Chair of the ASIS Leadership Management & Practices Council; past Chair of the Research Council; and a previous member of the Crime Prevention Council; was an active participant of the annual ASIS Academic Practitioner Symposium; past Chair of CIWG; and a frequent contributor to Security Management of articles and book reviews, and the POA manual. Dr. Beaudry has authored three books and contributed chapters for eleven books, as well as his dissertation: Faculty Perceptions of Factors to Develop a Paradigm for Security Studies. Dr. Beaudry also serves as an advisor for publishers to review book proposals and revisions, as well as peer review journals.
