Many students may be familiar with the Pinkertons due to being featured in the popular computer game series Red Dead Redemption. Charlie Siringo's book, Two Evil -Isms: Pinkertonism and Anarchism, can help students in gaining context over the ways in which the security industry has professionalized since the 19th century and the ways in which it has not, and provide a bit of a break from more technical discussions related to the nuts and bolts of modern security practices.
