27 AUGUST: Intelligent Evacuation: Leveraging the GSOC and Technology to Save Lives

A cross-functional threat assessment identifies the internal and external risks your site faces, gauges their potential impact, and informs your plans and countermeasures. These plans often include evacuation as an action (e.g., Run-Hide-Fight) along with prescribed drills, but they rarely incorporate existing or emerging technology such as AI. The result can be chaotic evacuations that put lives at risk.

Session Description:
This presentation walks through examples of intelligent evacuation protocols and systems that leverage the GSOC and emerging technologies to aid evacuees and first responders—especially in schools and other soft targets.

  • Learning Objective #1: Understand the elements of a truly coordinated evacuation plan and why they are critical to developing your emergency response protocols.
  • Learning Objective #2: Examine lessons learned from evacuations that lacked intelligent design and coordination.
  • Learning Objective #3: Identify the elements and systems that make an evacuation "intelligent."

Speaker: @Richard E Widup, CPP, PSP, President, The Widrup Group
