We’re excited to welcome Larry Lopata to the ASIS International Southern Connecticut Chapter!

Larry is the Founder & CEO of Non-Lethal Labs, the company behind the BZR Interceptor, a patented, software-defined acoustic response platform. BZR integrates with existing cameras and security systems to add a non-lethal active defense layer—using precisely controlled sound to disrupt an aggressor’s forward momentum and create a critical window for response, without relying on projectiles or lethal force.

Working with Dartmouth audio engineers, Larry helped shape the science behind BZR’s acoustic profile. Rather than being “just a louder noise,” the system leverages nature’s own survival mechanisms to create an unconditioned break‑focus response—an immediate, involuntary shift in attention that helps interrupt aggressive behavior while remaining within controlled exposure limits.

With a background shaped by firsthand urban security experience, Larry is focused on closing the gap between threat detection and real-time intervention, helping move the industry from passive “observe and report” to true active protection.

Passionate about advancing responsible, human-centered security technology, Larry joined ASIS to collaborate with other professionals, share lessons from the field, and help define best practices for deploying non-lethal active defense systems.

Fun fact: When not working on next-generation security technology, Larry enjoys spending time on the streets and in the environments that inspired BZR, continually pressure-testing ideas against real-world urban safety challenges.

Passionate about access control and securing facilities, Colin joined ASIS to broaden their professional connections and continue building their knowledge within the security field.

Fun fact: Colin enjoys working on cars and riding ATVs, showing that security pros have diverse talents beyond the office!

Brian currently works as Area Sales Manager at Axis Communications Northeast Business area, bringing over 18 years of experience in law enforcement. With a background as in law enforcement and now working closely with organizations to design and deploy modern security solutions, Brian brings a unique perspective that bridges public safety and advanced security technologies.

Fun fact: Outside of work, Brian enjoys skiing, golfing, boating, and has been spotted from time to time in the gym, proving that security professionals have talents well beyond the office!
