Dear ASIS Professional Development Community (PDC) Members,
As we navigate a rapidly changing global landscape, the role of security leaders as strategic business partners has never been more vital. The complexity of modern corporate risk demands forward-thinking professionals equipped with top-tier technical expertise, strong business acumen, and exceptional leadership skills.
To continue steering the global evolution of security expertise, the ASIS Professional Development Community Steering Committee Leadership invites you to take an active role in shaping our industry's future. The Annual Call for Steering Committee Volunteers will be officially open from 15 August to 15 October. We are calling on our 1,000+ members to step forward and apply for a seat on the PDC Steering Committee to guide professional development in the security sector throughout 2027-2028.
Driving Global Security Excellence
As highlighted in our centerpiece whitepaper, Advancing Global Security Excellence: The Role of the ASIS Professional Development Steering Committee, our mission is to promote personal and professional growth through accredited academic study, formalized training, certification preparation, leadership development, and business management skills aligned with global enterprise needs.
By joining the PDC Steering Committee in 2027, you become a subject matter expert and strategic champion tasked with identifying emerging skills gaps and designing targeted global solutions. You will directly contribute to core initiatives, including:
- The Annual Professional Development Framework: Shaping strategic learning roadmaps and career mapping initiatives that guide practitioners worldwide.
- Mentorship and Leadership Programs: Fostering knowledge transfer and cultivating the next generation of security executives.
- Training & Education Catalogs: Curating advanced webinars, seminars, and certification pathways.
- Global Best Practices Repository: Expanding our community library with vital research, whitepapers, and management insights.
Selection Priorities
To maintain continuity, a portion of our committee rotates off each year. When evaluating applications ahead of the 15 November notification deadline on ASIS Connects, we will focus on several key criteria:
- Contributions & Commitment: A proven track record of involvement in the open community, online discussions, or community events, along with the dedicated time to actively contribute.
- Diverse Perspectives: The ability to inject fresh insights and distinct regional or sector-specific expertise into our programming.
- Business Planning & Support: Readiness to own and execute specific goals within our annual business plan and address areas highlighted by our benchmarking self-assessment.
- Succession Planning: Evidence of leadership qualities that position you as a potential future Chair or Vice Chair of the community.
Key Dates & Application Process
- Application Period: 15 August – 15 October
- Review & Interview Phase: October – Early November
- Final Notifications: All applicants will be notified via ASIS Connects by 15 November.
Stepping into a Steering Committee role is a powerful way to advance your own professional credibility while delivering tangible, lasting benefits to security practitioners and enterprises globally.
Help us set the standard for security excellence in 2027. We look forward to receiving your application.
