Find Out Best Ways to Completely Unwind Over a Weekend

Working people seldom find enough time just to sit back and relax. When the time does become available, you may find yourself at a loss about how to fill your time.

Responsibilities take up so much of your day that you cannot remember when last you took a break to look after your own needs. It’s really no secret what the basics of relaxation consist of, but the more adventurous may prefer more ambitious activities to unwind.

Spend time outdoors

Spending time outdoors, close to nature, is one of the most revitalizing ways to spend free time. Take a walk in your garden and sit down with a good book while listening to the relaxing sounds from outdoor water fountains from Soothing Company.

The gentle sound made by the water as it splashes into the bowl of the fountain is soothing. Water fountains also attract birdlife, whose song adds to your relaxing time in nature. Soothing Company offers several designs of water fountains to suit any outdoor area, no matter how large or small. This is a basic but firm favorite way to relax over a weekend.

Distance yourself from technology

Break the habit of constantly checking emails, phones and the internet. The weekend is your time to spend on yourself and technology is not the way to do it. Get out of the house and see a movie with friends, or go on a road trip to visit a distant family member or an old friend.

Take your phone with you in case you need to make an urgent call, but beyond that, switch off the sound. It’s impossible to be present in the moment if you’re constantly being distracted by a beeping phone, prompting you to check what new message awaits, that really can wait.

Make a plan to socialize

Make a date with a friend or a group of friends to visit a wine farm. Spend the weekend away in the countryside where your closest neighbor is 10 miles away. Fish in the river or go on a hiking trail. Ride horses together or simply spend time at a favorite restaurant.

Away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and technology, you’ll gain a new perspective on life. You’ll learn how much you miss the simple act of spending focused time with friends, and gain a new appreciation for the natural world around you.

Challenge yourself

Do something outside of your comfort zone. Book a trip to go skydiving or skiing if you’re the adventurous type of person. Go and see a local basketball match, or join a cooking class for the weekend. Whatever you’ve always wanted to do and thought you never had time for, now is the time to do something for yourself.

Even if you’ve been planning to get to a new book store or the library for months on end---do it now so you can indulge yourself for the entire weekend. When you so seldom get time to unwind, sometimes you need to take time out to see life from a new viewpoint.

Time for a date

Married couples with children fully understand how difficult it is to do the things they enjoy. Arrange for a babysitter or childminder to look after your children so that you can go out on a special date. Make reservations at a favorite restaurant and dress for the occasion as if this is your first date.

Reconnect with each other at a deeper level and learn how to have fun again. You know you probably need this time alone, and you definitely deserve a break from daily life to re-ignite the romantic spark burning inside of you.
