Scott was born in Kodiak, Alaska and grew up in Bemidji, Minnesota. He served on active duty in the Army as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician and in Army reserve as an Interrogator/Russian Linguist and Psychological Operations Specialist. He started his career in Corporate Security at Walker Methodist Health Care in 1996 and began managing IT Security at Xcel Energy by creating their first converged department as Director of Enterprise Security Services in 2002. In 2007, he moved to ATK, a defense an aerospace company as their CSO, responsible for IT Security and their classified security program. In 2012, he moved to Thomson Reuters where he built and managed their Customer Assurance, Threat and Vulnerability and Vendor Risk Management teams. He’s currently at Medtronic as the Director of Intelligence & Operations. Scott received his Master’s degree in 2000, his CPP in 2002 and his CISSP in 2005. When he’s not spending time with his family and dogs, he writes books, reads, hunts and wastes time on his Xbox.
