Michael A. Bruggeman, CPP Founder and President Titan Group USA
Mike Bruggeman is the Founder and President of Titan Group USA, a boutique security advisory firm that provides clients with specialized counsel, expertise and services utilizing a variety of solutions - all individually targeted to meet the client needs.
Drawing on his close to 40 years of law enforcement and security experience in both the public and private sectors, Mike uses a variety of skills and tactics such as relationship building and collaboration with key stakeholders, project and vendor management as well as deep technical knowledge to create customized security solutions that deliver program efficiencies and client satisfaction.
Prior to founding Titan Group USA, Mike was Senior Vice President of Security for Rock Ventures, the umbrella entity formed to provide operational direction to a diverse portfolio of more than 100 companies, investments and real estate, including: Quicken Loans, Bedrock, the 2016 NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers and JACK Entertainment.
Mike also led security operations for the Rock Ventures Family of Companies. He also coordinated security services for Bedrock’s real estate portfolio of more than 95 properties in Detroit as well as its investments in Cleveland. Mike established a state-of-the-art Security Command Center for Rock Ventures which provides early warnings and notifications of threats and risks that could impact the company, team members, assets, and reputation as well as provide a 24/7 resource to all Family of Company team members, tenants and visitors.
Mike was also the CEO for Motor City Protect, LLC, a start-up security company, providing innovative security services to businesses in Detroit’s Central Business District.
Project Lighthouse, co-founded by Mike, was developed to enhance the safety and security of visitors, employees and residents of Detroit’s Central Business District. It’s a public-private-partnership, neighborhood watch program with more than 40 local organizations and law enforcement agencies – all collaborating to keep Detroit residents, daily commuters and visitors safe. It provides shelter, aid, safety, information, potential lodging and temporary assistance - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It has been recognized as a Best Practice of Public/Private Partnership by the Department of Homeland Security.
Prior to joining Rock Ventures in 2011, Mike served as Director of Global Security for General Motors and spent more than 33 years with General Motors Corporation. During his time with General Motors, Mike was responsible for executive protection, crisis management, travel security, threat assessments, future product security and security operations for GM’s global headquarters in Detroit. He established the GM global crisis command center and developed GM’s corporate crisis management program for global crisis teams. Mike was a three-time recipient of General Motor’s highest honor, The GM Chairman’s Honors, for his Security Leadership on major corporate projects.
Mike is a member of the Intelligence Operation Center Advisory Board by appointment of the Governor of Michigan, chair of Detroit Southeast Michigan Information Center Advisory Board by appointment of Detroit Homeland Security for 2016, U.S. Department of Justice – U.S. Attorney Antiterrorism Advisory Council, a board member of both the Detroit’s Public Safety Foundation and the Detroit Crime Commission. Mike previously served as the Chair for the U.S. Homeland Security Department, Critical Manufacturing Sector Coordinating Council and as a board member of Crime Stoppers of Southeast Michigan.
Mike is a deputized sheriff of Genesee County and Wayne County in Michigan, and a Police Reservist with the City of Detroit’s Police Department. He has a master’s degree in Security Administration from the University of Detroit Mercy and a bachelor’s in Management of Human Resources from Spring Arbor University. He is a Board-Certified Protection Professional of the America Society for Industrial Security.
