Mr. Gean Alston assumed duty as a Physical Security Specialist within the Office of the Chief Security Officer (OCSO), Headquarters, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Washington, DC in February 2012 after retiring from the United States Air Force. He provides direct support to DHS Component agencies, OCSO, DHS Undersecretary of Management (USM), and the Strategic Operations Division. Additionally, he serves as the physical security liaison for Security Compliance Review and Multi-Discipline Vulnerability Assessment programs.
Mr. Alston provides Interagency Security Committee Risk Management guidance to DHS security representatives in protection of federal facilities nation-wide.
As a Chief Master Sergeant in the Air Force, he was the senior enlisted leader for the overall management of 1,750 military and civilian personnel and 30 associate units in support of more than 37,000 active duty, civilian and retired personnel. He has served in a variety of positions throughout his 30-year military career, from squadron level to Headquarters, Major Command where he developed policy and coordinated security vulnerability assessments and force protection upgrades for installations throughout United States Air Forces in Europe.
