School Safety and Security Community October Meeting

When:  Oct 21, 2021 from 11:00 to 12:00 (ET)
Please make plans to join us for our October School Safety and Security Community meeting. The meeting will take place on Thursday, October 21st at 11:00AM Eastern Time. This month, our speaker will be Jay Robertson from the Milton Hershey School. Jay will speak on the Building Emergency Coordinator (BEC) Program that originated at the Milton Hershey School.

The BEC program coordinates with select school staff members as they serve as an initial response force-multiplier for Campus Safety Teams during any adverse event (Actual Event or Drill) that may occur at or near their work location. The BEC’s role is primarily to coordinate evacuation staff/student/guest accountability; ascertain initial scene assessment; serve as on-scene liaison for responding emergency services agencies until relieved by first responders.  Jay will also discuss how BEC’s are also empowered to delegate incident response-related tasks to other staff as needed. Additionally he will review the “Go-Bag” that the BEC’s maintain to assist them in their role.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting.
